Freddie Matthews writes from London about the album ‘Opposites’ a  studio album by Biffy Clyro an alternative rock band from Ayrshire  Scotland.

More than ten years ago Biffy Clyro released their first bits of music which according to Freddie Mathews was “metal prog-punk” the last 3 breakthrough albums were very good too.

Considering guitar bands are becoming more prominent in UK music history, and like the The Smashing Pumpkins Biffy Clyro are helping guitar musics popularity grow.

The X-Factor helped Matt Cardle and he sang a song by Biffy Clyro called Many Of Horror but you might not of heard of this track because it is now called When We Collide.

Things have changed according to Freddie because the sales of vinyl LP with two sides to every record have changed the way the music is marketed, played and sold.

On this album you will enjoy Ben Johnston’s drumming and  Simon Neil’s guitar and they are very friendly with U2 now called  The Edge.

STi Album Review ¬ Rebekka Karijord – We Become Ourselves

January 12, 2013

In this positive review Freddie Matthews compares the artist to Dido and Kate Bush and I think its an informal and timely review. Look out for the UK tour over the next few days and be sure to read the full review over on STi a news and entertainment website based in London with contributors from all over the world.

Musician and composer Rebekka Karijord who as Freddie Mathew points out has had 30 film soundtracks published is on tour this week in the UK.

Rebekka Karijord

To the music: the lead track on We Become Ourselves is Use My Body While It’s Still Young. It’s almost tribal with the leading drumbeat. I can hear Husky Rescue.

“Another single from the album is Oh Brother rich with a male choir and her vocal accompanied by the piano and electric guitar.” Freddie Mathews.

Watch live in concert in January 2013 over the next few days, dates are scheduled from around the United Kingdom.

Rebekka Karijord live in UK

  • The Borderline London 16 January
  • The Ruby Lounge Manchester 17 January
  • Workman’s Club Dublin 18 January and
  • King Tuts Glasgow 19 January.

Multicolored Hummingbird is one track singled out by Freddie Mathews so I have done a bit of searching and posted it here on WordPress.com using the new updated interface just click the word Multicolored Hummingbird.

New Album Review: Coldplay – Live 2012

December 4, 2012

Freddie Matthews writes from London: Coldplay Live 2012 and the new album review of Coldplay live 2012, with influences from Mylo Xyloto, Coldplay in London, Chris Martin, an album called ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’, Viva La Vida compared to this concert  live. First take a look at A Rush Of Blood To The Head.

Coldplay live 2012

This time around it’s based on the current Mylo Xyloto album which has been around since October 2011. Of course they’ve released other live material in that time but not in the form of a film and cd from the album and tour. This time around not only do you get concert footage but there’s also documentary spliced between a handful of the 18 (depending on the version you have) songs. Win Coldplay goodies! (allmusic.com).

coldplay frontman chris martin on new album date (thesun.co.uk) are in another world when it comes to their live performances. They actually sound like studio recordings. I find myself checking the cd cover at times for clarification Coldplay working on new album (bigpondnews.com) this ‘was’ recorded live. It’s amazing just how spot on Chris Martin’s pitch is.

The more Coldplay play and perform the bigger they become on the world stage of live music 1990s and early 2000s, with tours like Zoo TV, PopMart, Elevation and Vertigo which only makes me reminisce.

In My Place; Yellow; Viva La Vida; Paradise; Clocks; and Charlie Brown. In fact virtually all of the songs featured here will have meaning to many fans or the film as it is very special also. Coldplay Album Number 6 on the Way, Chris Martin Says (contactmusic.com)

Live 2012 goes further than most cd/dvd album releases but I guess we should expect that from one of the world’s biggest selling bands at present. Coldplay to Go on Hiatus for Three Years (aceshowbiz.com) should be better, bigger, more impressive and more accomplished live musicians than any act selling hundreds of thousands of tickets.

After that they became a little too mainstream but that’s why they’re such prolific sellers. That said however, this cd/dvd is a must have for anyone who has ever liked Coldplay at anytime in the last 12 years. They even managed to get Rihanna live at the Paris show, as she’s a part of the Princess In China song footage. Coldplay press pause on career, announce three-year break (o.canada.com).

Congratulations Coldplay. A post made earlier today over on Stirring Trouble Internationally – A humorous take on news and current affairs December 04, 2012 at 12:05AM http:// New Album Review: Coldplay – Live 2012 (stirringtroubleinternationally.com).
